Ceremonial grade means the leaves are shade-grown, which forces the plant to build up the amino acids that make matcha sweet instead of grassy, and stone-milled, which is slow enough not to scorch the powder. Culinary grade skips both, and that's why most matcha at home tastes bitter.

This one is creamy and sweet with a soft umami edge and very little bitterness, so it works with just hot water and no sugar to rescue it. The caffeine arrives slower than coffee and leaves without the drop. A measuring spoon comes in the tube.

Good if you like: afternoon caffeine without the crash, matcha lattes, or you've been let down by cheaper powder.
